Quickstart — your first project
Create a project, add prompts, connect Google Search Console, and read your first results.

This guide takes you from an empty account to your first visibility data. Plan for about ten minutes of setup; the first full day of prompt runs completes within 24 hours.
1. Create a project
A project represents one brand and its domain.
- Sign in and create a new project.
- Enter your domain (e.g.
yourbrand.com) and brand name. Maya uses the brand name and its spelling variants to detect mentions, and the domain to detect citations of your pages. - Pick your primary country and language — these become the defaults for new prompts.
If your brand runs on several domains (country sites, docs subdomain), you can add additional domains later in project settings so citations of those pages count as yours.
2. Add prompts
Prompts are the questions Maya asks the AI assistants on your behalf. Good prompts are the questions a real customer would type — not keywords.
- Start with 10–20 prompts across the funnel: discovery ("best X for Y"), comparison ("BrandA vs BrandB"), and brand questions ("is BrandA reliable?").
- Each prompt has its own country and language, so you can track the same question across markets.
- Use Bulk Upload to import a CSV if you already have a list.
See Managing prompts for details and prompt-writing guidance.
3. Connect Google Search Console
Connecting GSC is optional but strongly recommended: it lets Maya cross-reference your AI visibility with the queries and pages Google already sends you, which powers prompt suggestions and action plans.
Follow Connecting Google Search Console.
4. Read your first results
After the first runs complete:
- Overview shows your visibility score, mention rate, and top competitors at a glance.
- Prompt Lab lists every prompt with its latest answer per provider, your position, and sentiment.
- Citations shows which sources the assistants cited for your prompts.
Interpreting the numbers is covered in Understanding Prompt Lab metrics.
5. Invite your team
Every plan includes unlimited seats. Invite teammates from project settings — members see the same project data and can manage prompts.
Common first-week questions
Why is my brand not mentioned anywhere? For most brands that's the honest baseline — it's the gap Maya is built to close. Check which competitors are mentioned instead, and which sources get cited; those are your targets.
How often do prompts run? Daily, spread across the day per provider. Trends become meaningful after about a week of runs.
Do answers differ per country? Yes — assistants answer differently by market and language, which is why prompts carry their own country and language settings.
