Connecting Google Analytics 4 (Visitor Analytics)

Measure the human traffic AI assistants send you — sessions, purchases, and revenue from ChatGPT-source visits.

Updated 2026-10-12

Visitor Analytics closes the loop: Prompt Lab shows what AI assistants say about you, and GA4 shows what that does to your traffic. Connected, Maya reports the sessions, purchases, and revenue of visits arriving from AI assistants — currently centered on ChatGPT-source traffic.

Connect

  1. Open Visitor Analytics (Integration section) and connect with Google OAuth. Use an account with read access to your GA4 property.
  2. Select the GA4 property for the project's site.

Maya reads reporting data only; nothing in your GA4 property is modified.

What you get

  • AI-referred sessions — visits whose source is an AI assistant.
  • Purchases and reported revenue for that traffic, in your GA4 property's timezone and currency.
  • The same data feeds the Revenue panel in Ads Analyzer, where it provides the commercial context for ChatGPT ads.

Reading it honestly

  • AI-referral measurement undercounts by nature: assistants often answer without a click, and some clicks arrive without a clean referrer. Treat the numbers as a floor, not the ceiling.
  • ChatGPT-source traffic in GA4 is organic and paid combined — it is not ad attribution. Maya deliberately avoids showing a ROAS from this data.
  • Compare trends rather than absolutes: if your mention rate rises and AI-referred sessions follow two weeks later, that's the loop working.

Troubleshooting

No property listed — the Google account you connected has no access to the GA4 property; have an admin grant at least Viewer, then reconnect.

Zero AI traffic — common for young projects: AI referral volume follows visibility. Check the Overview mention rate first; traffic is the lagging indicator.
